So I've been slacking in the blog department, but I have a good excuse, really I do. I've pretty much been in survival mode the last 2 weeks. It all started with a trip to the E.R. because I was having what I thought was really bad heartburn. I was having a lot of pain in my chest and stomach and back and a couple of vomiting spells and nothing would bring relief. So here I was in a lot of pain and discomfort in the middle of the night and nothing I could do about it. I finally decided to go to the E.R. and found out that I had gallstones. We think there was a stone stuck in the bile duct somewhere because I was in so much pain for over a week. The surgeon in Tooele pretty much gave me the go-around and just kept testing my levels and decided that it wasn't urgent that I have surgery (he was nice enough to give me a prescription for some pain medication though:)). So what do I do about the pain, doc? (other than the meds that made me loopy) He told me to go see my OB. We figure he just didn't want to do surgery because I am pregnant, I guess I can't blame him. Anyway, my OB said to get it out of there (my gallbladder) and referred me to a surgeon he works with a lot and who has a lot of experience doing the surgery on pregnant women. So on Tuesday (over a week after the onset of the attack) I had surgery to have my gallbladder removed. Oh what fun!
Anyway, I'm doing better. I'm still a little sore and just have a general feeling of blahness. Oh and I'm having some nasty headaches, ugh. I have to remind myself that not only am I recovering from surgery, but I'm also PREGNANT! The good news is that I made it to 13 weeks and there is still a healthy baby (at least there was as of Tuesday). So there's my last 2 weeks in a nutshell, I hope yours was better than mine.

Melina Grace
Melina Grace was born 3 years ago today. She has brought us so much joy and happiness. We love her spunky personality and have loved watching her grow these last 3 years. She is no longer our "baby girl" and is now a beautiful little girl. Here she is at the hospital.
1 year:
2 years:
And 3 years today:

We had a wonderful birthday party for her on Saturday. She got lots of great presents (we're just about set for her Fall wardrobe) and she had a princess cake (thanks "Papa") and she got balloons (that she was so excited about). Most of her cousins came to play at "her" house. It was great! Thanks to everybody who came!

Here's a pic of Melina
playing in her new
sandbox, which
she loves!

Pregnancy Update
I had my second prenatal appointment yesterday. I am happy to report that all is well. My due date has officially been changed to Feb. 27th, which is what I've been going by anyway. We couldn't hear the heartbeat with the Doppler yet, the doctor tried, but just couldn't get anything. He was nice enough to take a quick look with their ancient ultrasound machine (they have a nicer, newer one in the lab/radiology department). We saw a blob with a little flicker on the screen. I can now rest easy that everything is okay for now. Just a couple more weeks to go and then I'll pass the point of the miscarriage from last time.
I'm still hanging in there as far as the morning sickness goes. I'm hoping it will ease up in a few weeks. I managed to make it to almost 10 weeks before I threw up for the first time. I'm now up to 2. All I can say is that it is better than my last pregnancy. So far, this pregnancy seems to be very similar to my pregnancy with Melina. Hm, maybe we will have another girl. I guess we will have to wait and see (only 8-10 more weeks to go). Anyway, there's the pregnancy update....until next time.....
