I had my first prenatal appointment today. It was the typical appointment and I had to have my blood drawn, which isn't usually a big deal for me, but this time it took them 4 tries to get all of the blood they needed. Ouch! I guess I was a little dehydrated. Mental note: make sure you're hydrated when you get your blood drawn. I should know that by now, but I just have a hard time drinking enough water when I'm not at home. Anyway, I was able to get an ultrasound to ease both mine and the doctor's worries. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. They were able to see the gestational sac that was measuring around 6 weeks in size, but no fetus. So, either I'm not as far along as I thought and it's still too early to see it or I have a blighted ovum (when there's a sac, but a fetus doesn't ever develop). We are really hoping that it is the first scenario. I have to go back for another ultrasound in a week and a half to see if there is a fetus with a heartbeat. If there isn't, than it is a blighted ovum and I will have another miscarriage. We just have to be patient and wait a little longer for the answers. We are hoping for the best and I'm really trying to have a positive attitude.
